Veins
Varicose veins, blue veins across bridge of nose - related to overabundance of sugar in the diet.
Stretchable blood vessels, like veins, can temporarily enlarge after a blood sugar spike. But, increased osmotic pressure on vein walls causes this, not biochemical signaling. So, cutting carbs can flatten out one's veins. But, this doesn't treat the underlying problem of a loss of venous elasticity. Rather, it just hides it.
Many things can cause veins to lose elasticity- the proximal cause of spider veins (telangiectasia). Elevated glucose levels can lead to arterial hardening. But, for a venous problem, I would first consider elevated blood pressure

the blue vein across the bridge of the nose: “Sugar Bug,” or in Japanese, “Kanmushi” – a syndrome in Japanese medicine. Sugar Bug babies may cry more, have more issues with sleep. These children have a propensity to more temper tantrums and potentially attention and hyperactivity issues when they get older if proper care is not taken to divert this tendency along the way.
Why a Sugar Bug occurs is unclear, but my theory is that it has to do with the quality of gut flora (or digestive qi or energy) we inherit from our parents at the time of birth.

Treatments
Pycnogenol - derived from the pine bark of a tree known as Pinus pinaster. Immune booster.
Pycnogenol is used for treating circulation problems, allergies, asthma, ringing in the ears, high blood pressure, muscle soreness, pain, osteoarthritis, diabetes, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), a disease of the female reproductive system called endometriosis, menopausal symptoms, painful menstrual periods, erectile dysfunction (ED), and an eye disease called retinopathy and varicose veins,
Pycnogenol is POSSIBLY SAFE when taken in doses of 50 mg to 450 mg daily for up to 6 months. Pycnogenol can cause dizziness, gut problems, headache, and mouth ulcers.
No known interactions with herbs and supplements or foods. May interact with Rx that suppress immune system.
The following doses have been studied in scientific research:
BY MOUTH:
Pycnogenol is a potent antioxidant made from the bark of pine trees. Among its components are proanthocyanidins, red pigments (also found in blueberries and grapes) that aid in strengthening capillaries, arteries and veins. Pycnogenol also can improve the elasticity of the skin by bonding to underlying collagen fibers.

- For diseases of the retina, including those related to diabetes: 50 mg three times daily.
- For mild high blood pressure: 200 mg of pycnogenol daily.

Citrus Bioflavonoids
Diosmin and hesperidin, as well as the bioflavonoid rutin, may also be helpful for chronic venous insufficiency , a condition in which the veins in the legs begin to weaken. 7-10,34,35Double-blind trials suggest (but do not prove conclusively) that a micronized combination preparation of diosmin and hesperidin may be helpful for hemorrhoids . 2-6,43
